Editorial Policy

Last updated: October 5, 2026

This policy explains how the Full Flower Garden Editors research, write and update the guides on fullflowergarden.com.

Our Sources

We base our guides on reliable sources, including university and county extension services, botanical gardens, plant societies, the USDA Plant Hardiness Zone Map and published references on floriography and plant history. Where a guide relies on a specific recommendation, we link to the source where we can.

How We Write

We write in plain American English. Each guide gives a quick answer first, then explains the details in a logical order, with tables for quick comparisons such as planting times and zones.

We do not claim personal experiences we have not had, and we do not invent statistics, quotes or test results.

Accuracy and Review

Before publication, every guide is checked against its sources for facts such as hardiness zones, planting depths, bloom times and toxicity. Where expert advice differs, we explain the options rather than presenting one view as the only answer.

Updates and Corrections

We review guides when advice changes or readers report a problem. If you spot an error, please tell us on our contact page. We correct factual errors promptly and update the date shown on the guide.

Independence

Our editorial decisions are independent. We do not accept payment to include or recommend a product, nursery or florist in our guides. If we ever publish sponsored content, it will be clearly labeled.

We use photos licensed from Unsplash with credit to the photographer, along with original diagrams created for Full Flower Garden.
